I really enjoyed learning about the ruins of Baalbek, a topic I previously knew nothing about. I also enjoyed learning about how the discoveries of the early archaeologists in Egypt. Their findings ranged from accurate to misunderstood to intentionally deceptive for the sake of their own egos, yet regardless of accuracy have shaped the modern perspective on Egyptology.You can really sense the passion and excitement of discovery in Sitchin's writing. To fully enjoy this book you must share at least some of that passion as well. At times I found it to be a bit long winded as he kept adding fact after fact leading up to proving his points and explaining his theories. But once he finally gets to those points, its usually something pretty cool. I definitely had more fun reading the first book in this series, but I did thoroughly enjoy this one as well. I will continue to read the books in this series.

Start with his first book, 'The Twelfth Planet'. If you are new to ancient history, do not get hung up on the names. There is plenty of repetition so that by the end of the book you will know who is whom.

This book primarily covers man's quest to achieve immortality from the "gods". Sitchin, as in Book I, compares and contrasts archaeological findings, the Bible, writings of historians throughout the ages and mythology to formulate his conclusions. It is hard to believe as coincidence that every civilization in every age had the identical tale to the Sumerican king, Gilgamesh.And where did Gilgamesh's journey take him to speak to the "gods"? The evidence seems to point to a spaceport where the "gods" travelled from earth to the heavens. The arguments are more than convincing, and the drawings, geometric measurements and descriptions of these places - Giza, Heliopolis, Mt. Ararat - are hard to ignore.The history of Earth in our currently accepted paradigm is very problematic and not really credible. Sitchin certainly got my attention with the Earth Chronicle series.

The book is incredibly interesting, giving perspective and alternate theory on historical facts that haven't been and may never been proven. Good stuff.

"The Punch" was an excellent book. A little repetitious, as other reviewers have indicated, but otherwise the author took a difficult topic and did a fine job. A few points on the content. There is disagreement as to who threw the first punch- Kunnert or Washington. Kermit and Kareem say that Kunnert threw the first punch. Kunnert and referees Bob Rakel and Ed Middleton say that Kermit threw the first punch. Regardless of who threw the first punch, Washington was completely at fault for viciously attacking Tomjanovich, who was trying to break up the fight. If Washington was concerned about his safety, he should have put his hands up or moved elsewhere on the floor. Washington had a history of NBA fights, at least three of which caused his ejection . This includes one fight in practice in which he beat up one of his own teammates.In my opinion, Washington had a chip on his shoulder, and this chip was exacerbated after the fight and seemed to have a racial aspect. According to Washington, his lengthy suspension, loss in the civil suit filed against him and the Lakers, and his inability to find steady, long-term work were due to the fight and to racism on the part of the NBA, the public and the world in general. In 1995 he applied for the job of Athletic Director at American University. He was not chosen because he had no front office experience, but AU said he could come in as an Assistant AD and gain experience. Apparently this wasn’t good enough for Washington. He said he should be made the AD because of his name, and the experienced person should be under him as the Assistant AD. He had a lawyer send a letter to the NBA asking for $5 million dollars because he felt there was a conspiracy to besmirch his name. The NBA paid him nothing. earlier, when his agent was trying to get the best possible outcome on his suspension, Washington almost loused up his chances by talking about watermelon and fried chicken. He did many good things, his friends spoke well of him, and he had a difficult childhood, but he seemed to be a volcano waiting to erupt.

This book was recommended to me by a coworker who thought the lessons of the life-long impact of an incident, and how they dealt with it, on two different people would be applicable to some of my own life events. The recommendation was a solid one, and I appreciated learning about (I can't say more because I never knew about "the punch" until I read the book) "the punch" and how Tomjanovich and Washington dealt with not only the physical aftermath of the incident, but also the emotional and mental aftermath.The lesson is easy, if not predictable, but having it play out as you read it and realizing two men really experienced this helps to make the lesson more applicable.I was less impressed with the writing, which I felt needed a good editor. Major stories were repeated and quotes were often reused.

Feinstein is a fine writer but you wouldn't know it from this. This really should have been a retrospective article in Sports Illustrated, not a full-sized book. I often thought there were printing errors in my copy because I was reading similar passages over and over. But no, I suppose Feinstein needed to get a decent sized book so he did what he had to do.But at least I have a better overall view of Kermit Washington. He's a really great guy in many ways, very charitable and caring. The problem is he's handled just about everything relating to "the punch" poorly. He blames another player, tells Rudy how much he's suffered in a rare meeting, sues the NBA, etc. etc. I think it was John Lucas who advised him to take responsibility and move on, not say "I'm sorry, but...". Unfortunately, Washington hasn't taken this advice. I hope someday he does, because there's no winning when you look for excuses and scapegoats in something horrific you've done.

John Feinstein has again transported us to another world. He is the master at helping lead the reader somewhere he is not likely to go on his own. Feinstein is a master storyteller. This story of the effect one moment on the lives of two men is both fascinating and compelling.

Good book and very interesting reading. Some parts a little repetitive but overall a good book.

Now, I finally know the when, what, who, how and why of this story. All sports fan should read this book.

An interesting story that I knew nothing about before I read the book. It's amazing to me how one 5-second incident can affect lives forever. But I think the lesson of the book is that you don't HAVE to let it affect you forever. It is, of course, just the author's take based on his interviews, but it is sad that it seems Kermit Washington has never been able to move on from something that happened in 1977. Bitterness is a nasty poison.

About the Author

Dr. Stacey Patton is an adoptee, child abuse survivor, and former foster youth turned award-winning journalist, child advocate, and assistant professor of multimedia journalism at Morgan State University. Dr. Patton was formerly a senior enterprise reporter with the Chronicle of Higher Education, where she covered graduate education, faculty life and research, and race and diversity issues. She writes frequently about race and child welfare issues for the Washington Post, Al Jazeera, BBC News, and The Root.com, and she is a weekly columnist for DAME Magazine. She has appeared on Democracy Now, CBS News, and programs on Fox News, MSNBC, CNN, Al Jazeera, and the BBC. Dr. Patton has won journalism awards from the National Association of Black Journalists, Scripps Howard Foundation, William Randolph Hearst Foundation, and the National Education Writers Association, and, in 2015, she was the recipient of the Vernon Jarrett Medal for Journalistic Excellence in reporting on race. In addition to her work as a journalist, Dr. Patton is the author of a memoir, That Mean Old Yesterday, published in 2008 by Simon & Schuster. She mentions how in 1977 the Supreme Court defended the brutal beating of a school student held down by a number of educators. The child had huge bruises and welts and could not move for weeks. They basically said that it was not cruel and unusual punishment although they were aware that nobody (all adults are protected from physical beating by anyone) only children may be beaten by law. These horrors have largely been denied or ignored by not only the public but to the US Congress who over the past few years has rejected several bills to stop legalized child abuse (usually paddling) in our schools in the 19 states where paddling is legal. There are too many injuries some serious which for the most part our courts have looked the other way. This occurs disproportionately with the most vulnerable children such as disabled or autistic children. Minorities, especially black males, are also disproportionately paddled/beaten in school. She recommends advocating to protect black children from this Civil Rights violation. Currently HR Bill 160, a new bill, is being ignored or rejected by Congress. She discusses the history of corporal punishment of black children including some roots in slavery where beating and brutalizing was so common by slave owners. She mentions the fear of unjust punitive authority by usually white authority figures factors into the rationale of parents physically punishing black children to keep them in line from awakening the horrifying punishing reaction by those in power.She cited countless experts and studies to affirm her position. She is a champion for the vulnerable and should be heard by all including parents who may not agree but desperately need this guidance and knowledge. I have seen up close what Dr Patton is bravely advocating. I have 32 years as a child protection administrator and therapist and have also written on the issue . The very children that we abuse are the ones who just might carry the solution to our problem and may be the reason that the problem has not been solved to date! It is Black People's cosmic duty to stop hurting our children! This book is a great contribution to spreading that message.

I would say I am a advanced beginner Tableau user. I bought this book in hopes it was written like others in the dummies series, that being it was a how to and why. This book gives very little how to and why. If you are really wanting to learn Tableau regardless of your current level this book is not for you. It has to be really bad for me to give a negative review. This book makes way too many assumptions.You would get more help at no charge then go to tableau website for free training,etc.

I ignored the negative reviews when ordering because I've utilized many of the Dummy books with success. Yikes this is not a good book. It skips a lot. Joins for example - I had to Google how to do joins because the book breezed over without describing. I wish I could return it

It is very disorganized. For instance, the definitions of the menu items start on page 100! Often explanations are so generalized (with terms that have not been defined yet) that they are virtually meaningless. Sometimes graph images change jump around during the example without explanation.I did learn some things, but I found that just following what the author did to make his charts, was more helpful than actually reading the book.

This is a very high level book that briefly touches on the basics of Tableau like connecting to data sources and creating visualizations, dashboards, and stories. it includes a section on calculations, but it's barely more than "you can do calculations". It provides detailed instructions on the clicks required to do things, but doesn't always provide examples and does not provide exercises to test and expand your knowledge. It also does not delve into the power of using Tableau connected to a database. Still, for a quick overview, it's very useful.

The For Dummies books can be hit or miss: sometimes you get a really useful and insightful introduction to a subject, sometimes you get a book that just gives you the really basic stuff. This book is of the second kind. You get to see how the software works, but you get no insights into how to start improving your visualizations or anything of the kind. For it's price you are better off with the free videos in the website, this is just a glorified user's manual.

I've read a lot of "For Dummies" books over the years, this is hands down the most poorly written and edited one I've encountered. Most Dummies books are very easy to follow step-by-step, this one says "use the blah-blah button to change x" without giving you a clue where the blah-blah button is. Look elsewhere for a Tableau guide.

Takes you throughout tables and explains thoroughly.

Much more understandable than the textbook for the class (which was like an operating manual)....good examples and it helped our group finish three class projects.

The Kindle E-book version does not include ANY page numbers that correlate to the written/paper text. I am using this for school and when the professor gives us page numbered reading assignments I am unable to find the page in the e-book. If I had known there were no page numbers, I most likely would not have purchased the Kindle version.

This book is extremely comprehensive and a must have resource for anyone studying pediatric nursing. The e-book is very easy to read, highlight, and define words while reading. Although it doesn't have page numbers, the search function far makes up for that and it is easy to find the topic you are looking for.

Overall I thought this book did a really good job highlighting some of the differences in how Japanese people think compared to Americans. This could be useful in knowing why some things take so long to progress or why certain results occur when dealing with Japanese companies. I am currently living and working in Japan and was quite aware of some of these things already. However, there were some things in the book that helped shed some light on some things for me so I found it helpful.That being said, I think there are some things and wordings that generalize a bit too much and make some things that rarely happen seem like everyday things. I would say to just be aware that one size doesn't fit all and that these are generalizations. I understand that these kinds of things are necessary when writing this kind of book so I don't fault the author for that very much. Just a caution to the reader.

There's no excuse for being an "ugly American" in Japan -- just read this well-written, sensible book and you won't make any faux pas. It has insights into social situations and business behavior, and offers historical context for the rules of engagement when you're in Japan. This second edition of the book is updated with tips for handling emails and social media.

I'm aware going into this book that it is considered a bit "dated" even though it's twenty first century. That said, I still think it gives a knowledgeable scope of Japanese Business Culture. The Foreword and Introduction are length and well-backed by academics.The book itself was in excellent condition and arrived on time. Very happy.

This book is a great primer for any US Americans doing or wanting to do business in Japan. It lays a solid foundation for understanding the "why" of business and cultural behavior and customs.

A great comprehensive book about the skills required to safely Sea Kayak in just about any conditions. Well written, easy to follow explanations and pictures on the skills of rescues, rolling, strokes, "reading" the water and Weather, essential equipment....basically everything every kayaker needs to be safe on the water.Novices and experienced kayakers will find valuable information in this book. Read through it in a few hours and can't wait to get out and practice!!

Although it is, as the title implies, a guide to doing things as safely as possible, each photo reveals that the skills portrayed here make possible both modest "safe" excursions and truly epic adventure. The reader may use this information to identify and eliminate the risks from a calm and beautiful outing, or make just-barely possible what would have otherwise been suicidal. Both a safety book and a window looking out towards the limits of what can be survived.

This is the premier book on kayak safety for those venturing to the outer coast -- in my case for Alaska and BC coasts. It deals with rescues, rock gardens, breaking waves, surf landings etc. To the best of my knowledge, this book is the best of its kind.

I am a sea kayaking instructor who has had the pleasure of learning from John Lull on several occasions. John has written an excellent book full of real life experience, expert advice, clear and concise writing, great pictures, and explanations everyone can understand. For those of us who hate textbook reading, there is also a little bit of fun thrown in for good measure. It is a well written and fun read, and delivers on its promise to talk about safety and rescue.No matter where, when, or with whom you paddle, you should add this book to your collection and read it often. It could possibly save your life!

John Lull is an excellent paddler and teacher, a combination that doesn't occur often. As the only core member of the Tsunami Rangers that paddles a decked(true)kayak, he lends a real, practical level of expertise to the science and execution of safety practices and rescue procedures. Unlike many other treatments of this subject, Lull looks at the big picture of hazards and conditions that can complicate recovery and rescue, rather than looking at the practices in a vacuum. Great photos give a real sense of progression to the rescue and recovery methods presented. These photographs are backed with well-written explanations that help paddlers choose and apply methods that appeal and apply to them. A really concise book that packs Lull's extensive experience and knowledge into a portable format, this is required reading for anyone venturing into water in a kayak.

Although there are a few similar books that focus on Sea Kayaking safety; this author's approach is my favorite. He approaches the subject from the perspective of managing risk rather than "being safe". In other words, he takes a real world approach to being out on the water where things are rarely "cut-and-dry". There are plenty of introductory level books, some with useful information for intermediate paddlers willing to look for it. Lull's work is clearly intended for the paddler who wants to develop their skills and "sea sense". I recommend this book to any intermediate sea kayaker.

I am a new to kayaking with only beginning classes under my belt and 12 hours on mostly flat water. Living is the SF Bay area there is lots of water close at hand. Plenty of afternoon wind as well. As a newbie John Lull's book has been great. I really like how John breaks the water down into domains. As he goes through the characteristics of each domain he lists the "Skills Needed" to be successful in that domain. His first chapter "Building A Safety Foundation" has a great section on managing fear. I would recommend this book to anyone thinking about the sport of sea kayaking. It is a must read. It's an enjoyable read as well.

After finishing "Venom" the first book in the secrets of the eternal rose I was so happy to know that there were two more books in this series. I quick purchased belladonna and finished the book in around three days. I fell in love with Cass and Falco being together and also the very charming Luca but this book made me change slightly. From picking up from venom(which I loved). Right away it starts with Luca getting arrested and Cass going to save her fiance which you can feel that she is starting to fall in love with Luca. In Florence Cass and Falco run into each other and you can feel the heated passion start between them again until near the end of the book Cass catches Falco with Belladonna and your heart just falls and feels bad for her. Filled with secret cults, vampire rumors and tons of romance and shocks this book is amazing and meets venom all of the way. And in the end you fall for Luca and see the love growing between him and Cass. I cannot wait to pick up the final book in the series this week and get to reading! I have read many books and this is by far my favorite series ever. I can relate to feeling like Cass and I am going to reread these again in the future for sure. Highly recommended.

Belladonna (Secrets of the Eternal Rose) is another winner from Fiona Paul!This book picks up were Venom left off. Falco has left and Cass and Luca continue with their engagement...Luca finds himself thrown in jail accused of a crime he did not commit. Cass must prove Luca is innocent, but she has to leave home and travel to Florence where she must find the Book of the Eternal Rose. In Belladonna (Secrets of the Eternal Rose), Cass finds herself involved with possible vampires, the secret members of the Eternal Rose and Falco.A fun and intriguing read that left me wanting more.

The first book in this series was entertaining and fairly well written, but felt forced at times. Fiona Paul's skill has noticeably improved in this sequel. The world she creates is mysterious and captivating, with secret conspiracies and hidden agendas. Beautifully evocative of historic Italy, with enough emotional intrigue to keep the pages turning.

Great Book! Happy I picked up the first book randomly at a book store. I do recommend reading this series.

I loved Venom and was so excited to read Belladonna. What I love most about this book series, is it's not about vampires. It is a murder mystery, with a love story, and has many twist as the plot thickens. Waiting for book three :)

I have not read Belladonna just yet, but I read Venom and loved it! I really hope Cass ends up with Falco in the end of Starling or I'll be heartbroken! Luca and Cass are cute, but I'm a sucker for the sweethearted bad-boy. I cannot wait to read Belladonna, when it comes in the mail. Like I said, I hope Cass ends up with Falco. I can't take another heartbreak from a book not letting my OTP happily be together.

I would read this all over again! I absolutely loved the series! Must read!

I fell in love with the first book of the series, Venom, and knew I had to find out what happened to Cass and Lucas! Glad I bought it.

I REMEMBER THE NEWS REPORTING THE LADY WHO WENT TO WAL MART WEARING ONLY A PAIR OF STRETCH SLACKS AND HAD THEM PULLED UP TO COVER HER BOOBS...YEP SHES IN THE BOOK TOO!!! THIS BOOK IS SO CUTE. FUN FOR ALL.

Not sure what possessed me to buy this coloring book as a gift but once it arrived I could immediately see it was a mistake. Don't ask me how 80% of purchasers gave this item 5 stars. Basically it's a book that makes fun of people who are overweight, are physically and/or mentally challenged in life, or perhaps just march to a different drummer. I am returning it even though I will be paying the shipping and handling and will get less than half my money back. It was overpriced to begin with- certainly not worth 10 bucks- it's less than 40 pages and the paper is not great quality.

If you are looking for something to make your eyes burn with unnecessary images, this is the perfect book for you. They found the best of the best Walmart regulars and you can use your imagination to help make things even more interesting. I applaud their efforts because there were several pages that nearly made me gag. Perfect gift for that person in your life who is simply too serious.

I bought this as a fun gift for a friend who was going to be recovering after surgery. OMG he loved it and thought it was hysterical. I've been promised a colored picture for my refrigerator.

So excited to used this for a Christmas white elephant gift!!!! The book is thicker and better quality than expected, and came on time and in perfect condition.

I love the adult coloring books...and love this one because it's so different from all the others. I may not color all of the finer details in some of the backgrounds on the pages, but this coloring book cracks me up! The pages aren't perforated, so other than that, no complaints!

Somewhat of a disappointing book. I really wanted to laugh like the things you see on YouTube. Bought as a gag (pun intended) gift. It may cause a few laughs. Product description didn't show much of the contents.

About the Author

Roger Price and LeonardStern created Mad Libs in the 1950s and the series has been a favorite among kids of all ages ever since. Although Roger Price passed away in 1990, Leonard Stern keeps the tradition alive by writing new Mad Libs all the time. Roger Price and Leonard Stern are both well known for their comedywriting. In the 1950s Roger Price created and developed cartoons called Droodles, which were turned into a television show. Before that Price worked with Bob Hope on a newspaper humor column, and he even appeared on Broadway in Tickets, Please! Leonard Stern has an equally colorful and varied history. Before co-founding Price Stern Sloan with Roger Price (Sloan came later), Stern was a successful television writer. In addition to his creative involvement with over twenty television series and over ten motion pictures, Stern worked with Jackie Gleason in New York writing the Honeymooners. He also wrote for the Phil Silvers Show, The Steve Allen Show, and wrote and produced the original Get Smart television series. Bought these for the my daughters high school graduation party. I also had a DJ, ping pong, along with many other games, yet the teens spend more time paying with the Mad Libs than doing anything else. Who knew entertaining teens could be so cheap? Bought two for the party so not all the teens had to rely on taking turns with one book and I would advise the same, buy more books considering the size of the guest list. I will purchase them again at my next daughters party. Great for high school graduation, but wouldn't advise for other graduations.

I purchased this for a high school graduate. We were on a road trip to celebrate the graduate, and she had other friends with her, too. They did some of these while riding, and I heard several laughs coming from the back of the car, so I think they enjoyed them. They were pretty silly and ridiculous, maybe even a little too young, but they're Mad Libs, and who doesn't like a Mad Lib, no matter what age!!! :)

We had a party to celebrate my son's promotion/graduation from 6th grade/elementary school. We invited family friends and their kids. So, we had kids from 4th - 10th grade at this party. I purchased a variety of items (ie, water balloons, silly sting, confetti poppers, etc.) to keep the kids occupied as much as possible. These mad libs kept them entertained for an hour! Wow! They needed no supervision the entire party, partly due to these mad libs. Fun activity for graduating kids of all ages!

Instead of buying graduation cards this year I purchased this mad libs for graduates. I think that it made a great gift/card all rolled up in one.

We had a small graduation party for my son and we did this with the family. It was a huge hit. It's always interesting to see everyone get excited about it. Well honestly at first everyone acted like they didn't want to do it but as time progressed people started pulling up chairs to participate. We had a lot of great laughs and really enjoyed it.

It was a smaller pad than I expected, but the kids at the grad party still had fun with it! Otherwise it was perfect!Thanks for the speedy shipping 😊
