I love this Ukraine travel guide! I love the writing style – tones of useful information - like attractions/locations/tips/local legends/hotels/restaurants - spiced with a bit of humor. I have found out a lot about Ukraine and, honestly, I did not know it`s so cheap in terms of food and transportation. The book is loaded with pictures which definitely will make you want to pack your bag and visit Ukraine (I myself fell into this trap)The book is as informative as entertaining. I highly recommend it

Very very disappointing - no page numbers and no map

Written by the very talented Iryna Tverda, this is a REAL travel guide written by a REAL Ukrainian. It talks about the big cities of Kiev and Odessa, as well as the countryside. It’s pretty cool to have a place described to you by a person that is actually from there. A lot of travel guides are written by people that don’t even live in the country they are writing about so this is refreshing. If you’re planning on traveling to Ukraine you are going to want to get this book FOR SURE!

This book is excellent—easy to understand, and filled with practical ways to become more mature in the gift of discerning. James Goll inspires his readers to grow in this gifting, while always staying humble and glorifying God.

I was asked to teach a class on prophecy, so I bought several books to help with my studies. As I read, I realized that discernment was also a very important topic, so I bought some books on discernment.This was a well written book that provided other perspectives to assist me with teaching. The author knows the subject and did a fine job of imparting the knowledge and experiences of his life path.

His insights and suggested approaches are excellent. I have been a lay minister for nearly 60 years and wish I had read this in my early years. So, why only three stars? Too much "I", "my", etc. that takes away from his core message. It is obvious he has been a wonderful minister but let his book bear that testimony, he doesn't need to. If this does not bother you please get the book, you will gain great insight.

This book provides depth for the hungry believer. I love the personal examples from the authors life and the activation prayers at the end of each chapter. Practical and biblical!

James Goll is a favorite ,I love to listen an d to read his books. This book encouraged me to go deeper in my gift and taught areas of discernment, i had not put with it and convicting.If the chart good. Thank you James for teaching on this subject

What luck I found this author !It is a very well crafted story. Fun to read so you learn from motivation - hard to put the book down. And what I like is that the story is very contemporary in setting and aimed at adult learners.A good mix of grammar constructs and tenses are used, yet the book is still easy to read for beginners. After each few paragraphs of the story there is a summarised explanation of key vocab and grammar.To get even more out of the book I'd suggest getting a French to English dictionary kindle ebook as well. Then as well if you get stuck on a word or expression, it's just a matter of putting your kindle cursor on the word to get the meaning from your dictionary.But again, thanks to this author. One of the few learning "tools" I've enjoyed. Definitely the best introductory reader I've come across for adults.

Passionate Louis creates some hilarious situations with his beginners French and long suffering Melba (modestly fluent) steps in when necessary to sort out the mess and misunderstandings. It takes great skill to incorporate humor into a simple text but the author successfully peppers jokes throughout both stories while keeping the language relatively uncomplicated.I actually found myself laughing aloud at some of the French faux-pas:In the bus someone leaves his "over coat" behind (le "manteau") behind, Louis chases after him ..."you have forgotten your chin" (votre "menton"):Sur le siège˚, il a oublié˚ son petit manteau˚ noir. Louis prend le manteau et appelle : « Monsieur ! Vous avez oublié votre menton˚ !>>"Melba lève les yeux au ciel˚." ... (Melba rolls her eyes)They rent a car from a guy in some hick town who only knows the names of animals in English ...he reels off a long list of the animals to impress, the last being "une arraignée" (spider)"-- Il a vraiment une araignée au plafond˚, pense Melba. "It's a play on words ...loosely translated : "this guy's got bats in the belfry".These readers are of excellent quality and perfect for adults learning the language.Bis! Bis! Ms. Laine's book offers a simple, enjoyable story broken into short chapters -- and at the end of each chapter, an all-important lexicon so you can look up any words that you might have trouble retrieving from your dusty francophone memory banks.However, this probably isn't the ideal learning resource for a rank beginner. The writing assumes a basic knowledge of French grammar. It's up to you, the reader, to figure out how to decline the words you find in the lexicons. Likewise, you won't gain much sense of how new words should be pronounced unless you already have some command of French phonics.Kindle indexing works very well. Links allow you to look up new or forgotten words; on my Samsung Nexus Galaxy or my Acer Iconia A500, it's easy to get back and forth between the main text passages and the lexicons.Overall, an enjoyable divertissement and a great little tool for polishing up rusty French reading skills.

As an intermediate level French student(self-taught -- I'm a retired senior) I enjoyed this book thoroughly. It is a story which will engage you, one in which you may very well find yourself relating to the central character who, with his skeptical wife, decides to set off in search of a long-ago friend. The setting is in France and you will recognize the culture and the atmosphere as classic French.The reading level is moderately challenging but still at a upper elementary/middle school level. I had to look up only a few words per page, on average.

I haven't finished reading the entire story, but I find this book to be well crafted, and an excellent for review and brush up of French vocabulary, including syntax. While the entire book is not translated, key words are marked and followed with translations and definitions, throughout the story. In my opinion it's really not meant for raw beginners as I think you would have to have had some French lessons to be able to read the book. While it's true you can find many resources for free on the Internet, you will be hard pressed to find anything better than this little story to help you augment your French; therefore I feel my money was well spent.I wish these books were for sale as Google Play Books because Google Play Books have the "Text to Speech" feature which would enable you to listen to the book albeit with a computer voice. This is something that is sorely lacking in the Kindle app for many Android phones.

The basic skills taught in this book are not new to me. What is new is the reminder that even with the simplest of stitches, we can achieve great texture and interest to the surface of our piece. Slowing down and stitching is both meditative and rewarding and I think that is the biggest lesson I took away from this book.

This book is a great intro to the art of soothing, introspective surface design. I really appreciated the beginning chapter on hand-stitching essentials. While I'm an avid quilter, the refresher course in choosing one's fiber, tools and other materials was very useful - as was the primer on stitching techniques that followed. I haven't made a fly stitch or a french knot in about 20 years, so the how-to reminders was helpful. I loved that Lynn gave instructions on stitching on paper and on fabric. Sometimes you just want a little something to take with you - whether you're putting it in an art journal, a mixed media piece or even making a label for a quilt. This is just the book to help that process along.The projects are very approachable, as is the writing style of the book. Creating your own patterns and using improv stitching allows one to grow as they work their way through the chapters. I am very excited to try embellishing photos with stitching. And, I'm looking forward to putting my own spin on some stamped and stitched runner projects.This is exactly the kind of book I like to sit down with for a few hours with a cup of tea and of course, chocolate, making my way through it and either visualizing or jotting down ideas of what else I would do, based on the ideas presented. It's one of those books that is like a friend - and I see myself returning to it often. hank you for writing this and sharing your gifts with the rest of us.

Well written, informative book with fun mixed media hand stitching techniques and projects. Great sections on techniques, tools to use and basic stitches which will lead the reader to use their creativity to make their own projects or one of the many clever projects the author has designed. Great information for beginners or more advanced stitchers.

I guess I had higher expectations for this book than the book gave me. It is good in so far as it goes. I learned some interesting techniques for stitching on paper and other surfaces. I don't really care too much for the projects, I guess they are just not my style.All the info is well presented with nice pictures. I gleaned some different ideas for embroidery uses that go outside the box, which is always good.

I'm a relatively elementary stitcher. I've done a little bit here and there, mostly just as embellishment for other kinds of creating. I've always wanted to dive into it a little deeper, but other books on the subject, frankly, made me a little overwhelmed and I always left it for a time when I could devote more energy to understanding how to do all the things.Enter Krawczyk's book. The section on stitches was clear and has a wide enough variety that I don't think I'll ever get bored (and can refer back to it if I get confused), but is enough of a knowledge base that if I want to try some more complicated surface stitches, I'll feel more confident having mastered these. I love her style in the projects presented, as well -- I'm looking forward to making some boho coasters and maybe even some covered buttons if I'm feeling adventurous. (I have a coat that needs some new ones; I think I just talked myself into it.)If you're a very advanced stitcher, I can see how this may feel a little basic, but for someone like me, who's dabbled but never gone deep, it's the perfect book to give you the stuff you need to know to explore embroidery without feeling like you've got to be an expert right away. Of course, after practicing all the info Krawczyk gives you, you'll probably *be* more of an expert than before. Call that a bonus score. :)

I am very happy with this book. Is very helpful in helping me to explore this world of stitchery. The pictures are beautiful and very helpful.

Fabulous book, great ideas, quality printing, and very inspiring!

Simple illustrations (although a couple are confusing). Good ideas for patterns. Projects not my style but interesting for examples. Fun.
