The book itself is fine however, the title explicitly states that the Kindle version comes with an access code to the Navigate 2 Essentials site. After extensively searching the book and contacting Amazon I was informed that the Kindle version does not have an access code despite falsely being advertised and sold with the impression that this would be included. If you buy the Kindle version just be aware that you will not gain access to the Navigate 2 Essentials site and will have to find an alternate means to an access code.

I'm currently taking an EMT course and this is definitely the handbook of it all. If you buy the new version, there's an online access code in the back cover that gives you access to online quizzes, summaries, outlined, audio book, etc. for 1year :) Definitely handy for reviewing when you're driving and also when you want to test yourself on the material. The book can also be a paper holder for strong winds and kill spiders, or knock someone down if this was thrown at them (it's thick with knowledge). 0_0

It's a big, fat, expensive book. It's got everything you need to know though! If someone breaks in your house, throw this at them! Then pick up the book and it will tell you exactly how to fix them. If you need it, buy it! Like I said, everything you need to know! It's also good at helping you sleep!

UPDATE: This book DOES come with an access code. HOWEVER, you need to confirm what access code you NEED first. This text book comes with ESSENTIALS access, not ADVANTAGE, PREFERRED or PREMIER. Many EMS classes require PREMIER so you need to make sure you are purchasing what you need.I originally rated this 5 stars. However, I'm changing it to 1. This whole access code nonsense is very deceptive, especially when many people believe it is what they need when it says "Essentials."

The physical version of this textbook is GINORMOUS. I hate carrying heavy textbooks, and prefer to use kindle versions whenever possible, that way I can take my tablet wherever I am and do some reading.Content wise, this version of the textbook has exactly what the physical version has. It is not, however, an exact replica of the page layout of the physical version. I don't really care about that, as long as the content is the same I will get what I need out of the book.One thing to note is that there is NOT an access code with this version. I called the JB Learning and purchased the access code as a standalone. When I bought the access code, I was able to use a discount code. I am not sure if that is something they always do, but it made the overall price of the kindle version textbook and the access code to be less than what the physical textbook would have been - so that is something to think about.As for the textbook itself...all l I can say is that it is a textbook. Course reading is not always exciting, but this book gets the job done, and is an integral part of the EMS training.

Bought brand new in paper back format description said the book had access code to Navigate 2, which it did, however when trying to use the code the website explicitly said the code had already been redeemed. How is this possible? The code should not have expired because the book itself was brand new. Book was great price but without access code it is unnerving and frustrating.

This book is needed for my EMT course...what I love about it most is that theres a scratcher inside..once you scratch it you go to their website, use the code and if you have an mp3 player, you can download the audio which reads each chapter word by word! It was very helpful in my EMT class. The workbook really helps you understand the material.

I love that this book has SO MANY practice questions. I was impressed by how fat it was! Lots of bang for your buck. You get vocabulary matching, 30-40 multiple choice, fill in the blanks, crossword and applied context multiple choice, fill in the bank and short answer questions for each chapter. On some chapters you also have anatomy labeling, It's a great resource for reviewing important material. The questions focus on a mix of vocabulary and essential concepts, but also have critical thinking questions such as a given scenario and logic of problem diagnosis and appropriate interventions.I LOVE THAT THE ANSWER KEY INCLUDES PAGE NUMBERS FROM THE TEXTBOOK SO YOU CAN FIND THE EXPLANATION SO EASILY.It wasn't required for my EMT course, but even if I was cash-strapped I still highly recommend this workbook. Definitely helped me retain information better after reading each chapter and were great for review prior to tests.

I got this to help my niece cope with the death of her mother, but I found it helped me cope with the loss of my sister just as much. It might be written as a children's book, but I've been recommending it to anyone who's lost someone they love. It's especially comforting for people who (like me) aren't religious but need and want something to believe in.

This beautifully written book would be best given to a child by a loved one that will be passing away soon, leaving for a long trip or perhaps stationed overseas. This book has a strong message to look for signs of love everywhere. This was a great buy and I highly recommend!

I'm a child psychologist and I have two boys (ages 5 & 10). Since the time the older son was little, I have been in the habit of putting magic kisses on their knees everyday before we say goodbye. They could then look at their knees during the day and be reminded that my love is always around and in them. Sun Kisses, Moon Hugs accomplishes the same "connective support structure" to little ones, but in lots of different ways and with beautiful imagery and colors. I read Sun Kisses, Moon Hugs to my 5 year old on his first day of kindergarten -- twice actually! He thought I wrote it because the concepts and imagery are all the sort of things we all say to our babies when reassuring them of our love and helping them to feel safe and secure in their little worlds while they explore away from us. This book accomplished two things. It serves as a supportive and therapeutic way for children to interpret and manage their feelings when they're away from us. It also promotes mindfulness practice in little ones, but encouraging them to look at natural phenomenon in the natural world and to understand that all of it connects all of us. It is also written at a level that is perfect for little ones to work on their reading skills. Sun Kisses, Moon Hugs is a book that is good for children, good for families and eventually, good for us all.

We purchased this book for our eight year old who lives in two separate homes. We often talk about sun and moon kisses and hugs as a way to think of each other and remember our love even when she is at her other house. The illustrations are adorable and the the story is so sweet!

From a (former) librarian's point of view, it was always difficult to find books that worked well to explain how, while death separates us it doesn't mean we can't be together in other ways, for smaller children. I found 2 or 3 that I kept on hand that used common images (like a caterpillar becoming a butterfly for instance) to explain death and leaving, but it wasn't easy to find things that explained and comforted without placating or being too cutesy to really help. And, especially with picture books and the under 6 years old crowd, it's a careful balance.This book hits that balance. If a parent, grandparent, or sibling dies, it can be hard to explain to a young child that, although this person they love is no longer physically with them, there is still a way to connect: hug a tree and feel your loved one hugging you back, look up at the moon and see the smile of your dear one returned, kisses sliding from heaven down the rainbow. Sun Kisses, Moon Hugs strikes a delicate balance between being a cutesy read and a heartwarming story that both comforts and gives a smile to the little one reading it.Long story short, I highly recommend this book, for kids under 6, who either are dealing with a separation of some reason (long term like divorce or short term like a business trip or deployment) or for the death of someone close to them.

If anything, Brian Burch over does it on the fundamentals, repeating and reinforcing them as you read along. To me, a good thingStarting with the proper etiquette on how to approach and conduct yourself at a craps table, Burch explains the various craps bets, starting with the Pass and Don’t pass bets, which carry the lowest house advantage. By following his advice on Taking (Pass Line) or Laying (Don’t Pass) the maximum odds allowed by the house, the player can reduce the casino’s edge to less than 1%The book moves on to explain in detail all of the other bets available on a craps table, from the better bets to the worst. Frankly, this is the only book anyone needs on playing craps. As Burch mentions, the built in mathematical house edge on each bet is irrefutable. Any book touting a “winning system” on craps is a scam. Craps cannot be mathematically beaten over the long haulBut craps is an enjoyable casino game, that can provide short term opportunities to win money for those willing to follow Burch’s advice - Stick with the Pass or Don’t Pass bets, taking the maximum odds, and if luck strikes have the discipline to walk away a winnerOccasional “hunch bets” on some of the other, higher house edge bets on the layout, (all explained in the book) can be fun, and when they hit can accelerate profits during a lucky session - just be careful!The Kindle book is well organized, has a detailed, functioning table of contents, and seems to have been carefully edited. Book teaches the basics. Had no idea how to play craps about 3 months ago. Went to Vegas for my birthday recently and read the book about 2-3 times focusing on the first part of the writing. Good book, but the amount of typos, punctuation errors, grammatical errors, random apostrophes and hyphens really detracted from the book. This author deserves a better editor. Being OCD, it was difficult for me to over the errors while reading. I would recommend this book to anyone.

I thought this was going to be a story about a very specific person with Cystic Fibrosis (the author) and I wasn't sure I was going to relate to her story; but I was happy that she took it to a higher level, interviewing other great achievers and sharing their knowledge through her story. I am glad I read this book. Also, it read so easily, I'm not sure I have read a book this fast in quite some time. A great story and great lessons for anyone who wants to define their life as a success.

Kyln's tale is one of perseverance, hardship and overcoming that showcases the capability that every individual has to make a choice to change. Brimming with emotive content that left me reading on the edge of my seat, Klyn's story of success evokes an unrivaled purity of the heart that stirs up potent visual imagery that is brought to life through words. Fast and easy read for those seeking inspiration and motivation. Klyn draws on several experiences, including others and their way about achieving success. This book is a much needed update of one of a few major reviews in the field, and has a great deal of useful content. Unfortunately for the price (and the amount of time that's passed since the last update) I was a bit disappointed - too much of it is verbatim from the previous edition, the organization is a bit weak, and the level of production is really disappointing... it looks like someone typed new headings and bound up a bunch of draft manuscripts!

This book is about this astonishing author! The author is a fantastic parent whose kid sends him all caps "I LOVE YOU" email, is an incredible teacher who teach the brightest of the world, yet still manage to remains amazingly humble (he says that he has at time learned from his students: can you can possibly believe that such as genius could ever learn anything?). The author does not lose an occasion to mention in passing that he met so-and-so celebrities. He enjoys expensive restaurant and the most expensive toys.What else do you need to know about the Great Author?Oh, what was the title of the book again? Oh yes, simplicity. The title of the chapters is just about the only interesting content there is in the book about the subject. All the rest of the books is trite and superficial and unwarranted self-agrandisment by an insecure author. Even his further reading list, shows how superficial the author is.The only ray of sunshine here is that I was able to return it for a full refund.Nevertheless, the impostor has succeeded in robbing me of precious time.

This book was okay as far as it went, which was not very far. The "laws" are adequate and valid - except for law #7, which I found incomprehensible. However, the commentary on the laws was light and superficial rather than deep and provocative. I wish he had discussed when simplicity amounts to a profound achievement and when it is simply simple. I wish he had gone beyond objects to also discuss language and ideas being simple or complex. I wish he had explored when simplicity pleases us and when it becomes rather useless and uninteresting. For example, poetry and advertising succeed most when they are simple on the surface but with many layers of meaning.

I expected quite a bit, based on the breathless reviews. As some of the other reviewers wrote, however, I found it to be meandering stream-of-consciousness stuff, without much by way of concrete conclusions. I found myself reading carefully to see whether I could extract a deeper underlying point to each of the chapters, then skimming a paragraph at a time, then flipping pages at an increasing rate... and finally setting it down, never to be picked up again. Twain is reputed to have written that he wrote a long book because he hadn't had time to write a short one; this one strikes me as a short book written because the author didn't even take the time to write the long one.

I agree the core messge : Make it simple!I remember Einstein as well : not more simpler, meaning do not sacrifice the core.I remind that it is required a smart effort to make sth simpler, but it is easy to make sth complex.It is a repetition with nice acronyms for me, not very productive experience of learning.

This book will serve UX professionals well as they design and research complex experiences that need simplifying. John’s prose is personable and inspiring, like a mentor talking to a mentee without sounding pedantic or standoffish. I plan on posting his laws of simplicity on my desk wall to remind myself of what we should all aspire to in design.

I had high hopes for this book, based on my enthusiasm for John and his other books. I guess I found the insights illuminating at times, and a bit thin or frustrating at others. It's also interesting to note that his examples in various cases might have been different had the iPhone been known of at the time (the interface, underlying complexity, cohesiveness of layers of data etc). I think it's a worthwhile read, and I'll probably go back through again to distill it better (NOT an example of simplicity!), but it's brevity just doesn't allow for a full realization of the concepts.

I found the laws themselves to be thought provoking; my mind immediately engaged the task of relating the laws to my own work. While the laws themselves are a delicious reduction the text itself is just the opposite. With such a dogmatic title strapped to a compact book I expected Maeda to directly confront on the topic of simplicity in a brief yet concrete manner (similar to how William Strunk hits the target dead on with The Elements of Style). Instead Maeda only lightly probes "simplicity" with lots of personal anecdotes, abstract thoughts and the iPod (for most examples). The book is more of a meditation on the topic than a "law" book.I highly recommend reviewing the laws at John Maeda's site: [...] and consider doing your own meditations. Read the book only if you're interested in viewing the cogs turning in the mind of Maeda without them producing the condensed sweetness you might expect in such a compact tome.(The hardcover book itself is nicely designed, printed and bound for those of you interested in good quality book and a favorable price.)

Rather than listing products to organize your laundry room, this lovely book treats simplicity as a philosophical inquiry. And it does not fall into the voluntary simplicity movement (although those who adhere to that will be enchanted). It's more a meditation using his brilliant background as an artist, engineer, student, and professor. The book is short and thoroughly inspirational. I highly recommend this delightful read.
